Welcome to The Exsecutus Blog.
Ex·se·cu·tus is derived from from the Latin word ex·se·qui (to implement; persist in; execute, carry out). In the spirit of execution, this blog shares my insights and discoveries obtained over 17 years implementing emerging technologies (aerospace; grid computing; land-line, undersea, mobile and satellite communications; Internet & social media; enterprise automation; and biotech, pharma and life sciences) for over 130 million people across over 40 countries and half a dozen industries.
Why I Write This Blog
My goal in life is to use technology (in all of its forms) to help make peoples’ lives (work and home) easier and more rewarding. For me, having a great technology is only the beginning: the true end is implementing and using it in a way that people love. Achieving this requires a lot of teamwork and communication. This blog helps with that effort
Organization of This Blog
On any given week I will use this blog to share information relevant to proximate challenges I see in my work, at conferences or advertised in the media. I organize these posts into the the following high-level categories:
- Strategy & Marketing. Discussions about discovering and analyzing market needs, dealing with market disruptions (technological or situational) and positioning products that address these needs through creation of measurable value
- Emerging Technology & Innovation. Ideas and lessons learned developing and delivering technology products for new and emerging technology markets (from last decade’s Internet Boom to new areas like levering of Mobile and Web 2.0 technology to advance life sciences)
- Managing Technology & Operations. Discussions and data as to how to cost-effectively manage scalable, flexible, reliable, high-performance systems and technology
- Program Management. Information and experiences from over $1.3 billion (USD) of programs as to how to bring together business professionals, scientists, lawyers and engineers to develop and deliver technology that meets customer needs on-time and under-budget
- Leadership. Sharing of lessons and advice as to how to get the most from your teams, peers and partners to do work together effectively
To make it easier to find items of interest, I have created over twenty more specific topics spanning these five categories. You can use these to more easily find blog posts regarding special topics of interest (e.g., architecture models, regulatory compliance).
